It's International Bat Appreciation Day 2025 and we're celebrating bats here at OM Dark Sky Park & Observatory with a Bat Walk around sunset.
We will talk you through all the different bat species resident here in Northern Ireland and highlight how light pollution affects these nearly-blind mammals. Bat detectors on hand with staff but feel free to bring your own too.
This event is open to all ages and will be indoors and outdoors involving a short walk. If the weather isn't ideal for bat-spotting we'll have fun bat crafts, explore the mythology of bats, and direct you to resources to help raise awareness for these tiny flying mammals.
