Set up camp on the shores of Lough Neagh at Ballyronan Marina Caravan Park, just outside Magherafelt. This Blue Flag award marina and sandy beach gives you immediate access to Lough Neagh and its many leisure activities, plus a woodland nature trail through a five-acre wet woodland where you’ll see swans, grebes and tufted ducks. There are 18 hard-standing caravan pitches, three tent pitches, football facilities, a children’s play area, cafe, BBQ and picnic area. If you really want to experience the water, book into one of the floating glamping pods on the shoreline.
Combine life outdoors with urban amenities at the beautiful Dungannon Park campsite, set within 70 acres of undulating parkland around an idyllic lake yet just two miles from the shops, restaurants and leisure facilities of Dungannon town centre. There are 24 fully-serviced hard-standing pitches for caravans and motorhomes, plus ample room for tents. You’ll have access to lots of facilities without having to leave the park, with toilets, laundry, kitchen facilities, a TV lounge, tennis courts, a children’s play area, game water fly fishing, BBQ area, football and cricket pitches all available.
Pitch perfect
The newly refurbished Roundlake Park, in the beautiful Clogher Valley near Fivemiletown, is the perfect base for adventures. You're also on the doorstep of Blessingbourne Estate, with its 13km of mountain bike trails and the Carleton Cycle Trail. There are 12 hard-standing caravan pitches, plus tent pitches available. On-site facilities include coarse fishing, lakeside walks and a children's play area.
Surrounded by the Sperrin Mountains and their spectacular landscapes, Shepherd's Rest, near Draperstown, has hard-standing caravan pitches and a grassed campsite for tents. There's a toilet and shower block, games room, a garden house with armchairs and open fire, and a BBQ area. And did we mention there's a pub on site!
Wildfowl, woodlands and wallabies
Make yourself at home in the grounds of an 18th century manor house at Drum Manor Forest Park, located between the Sperrins and Lough Neagh, just outside Cookstown. There are 31 caravan and camping stands set in the heart of the forest, with toilets and shower facilities on site. Your outdoor space includes a Japanese garden, arboretum, ponds, woodlands, butterfly garden, wildfowl lake, vast lawns, walking trails and a play park.
Annaginny Farm, near Dungannon, has hard-standing caravan pitches and camping facilities on site. You'll find a children's play park, laundry facilities and a BBQ area. Your neighbours will include wallabies, alpacas, llamas, owls, rheas and deer. There are also five fishing lakes on site.
Peace in a pod
If you’d prefer your camping holiday in Northern Ireland to have a touch more luxury, you might want to stay at one of Mid Ulster’s glamping sites. Ballyronan On-Water Glamping Pods, nestled in the shelter of Ballyronan Marina, on the shores of Lough Neagh, offer a luxury glamping experience with a difference. With Seamus Heaney HomePlace and Seamus Heaney Open Ground a stone’s throw away and lots of opportunities to explore the area on the ground and in the water, the pods are an ideal base that after a long day’s sightseeing offer you the chance to drift away to sleep, as the waves from the Lough gently lap a lullaby against the jetty. Each pod sleeps 2 – 4 people, and has screened entry, WiFi, TV, shower, fully equipped kitchen and relaxation area.
Sperrin View Glamping in Beaghmore, near Cookstown, offers spectacular views of the nearby mountains (as its name suggests), but it also offers sensational views of the night sky above. Each luxury glamping pod has a viewing window so you can lie in bed and gaze up at the stars. The pods also include air conditioning, WiFi, TV with Netflix, shower, kitchen and many other amenities.
Carntogher Cabins, set on a farm in Slaughtneil, near Maghera, offers luxury glamping cabins with magnificent views of the Sperrins. Each cabin includes WiFi, a kitchen, shower room, TV and more. There are pathways suitable for walking and mountain biking accessible directly from the farm.
