About

Tempest - Irish Language Week Concert 2025 (Seachtain na Gaeilge)

Tempest are a powerful ensemble of traditional Irish musicians from Ulster. Featuring an exciting line-up of Brendan Mulholland, Blaithín Mhic Cana, Aaron O' Hagan and Luke Ward, they have each achieved acclaim in their respective musical careers to date. Formed in 2023, and having released their debut album in February of this year, Tempest are already regarded as a vibrant exponent of traditional Irish music and song.

The group is firmly rooted in the heritage, song and music of their native Ulster and take great pride in sharing this with their audience. There is a particular focus on the singing tradition of Blaithín's native South Armagh, while many of the tunes also take their origins from the northern province.

*********************************************************

Grúpa cumhachtach de cheoltóirí traidisiúnta as Ulaidh iad Tempest. Le meascán spleodrach de cheoltóirí den scoth – Brendan Mulholland, Blaithín Mhic Cana, Aaron O'Hagan agus Luke Ward – tá a gclú féin bainte amach ag gach duine acu ina gceird le blianta beaga anuas. Ó bunaíodh iad in 2023, tá siad aitheanta cheana féin mar mhórfhórsa laistigh den cheol traidisiúnta, agus a gcéad albam foilsithe acu i Mí Feabhra na bliana seo.

Tá fréamhacha láidre ag an ghrúpa i n-oidhreacht, in amhráin agus i gceol a ndúiche féin, agus is mór acu an deis é seo a roinnt lena lucht éisteachta. Tá croí agus anam an cheoil Ultach le brath ina gcuid seinm, agus ardmheas acu ar an traidisiún amhránaíochta ceantair Oirialla, áit ar fáisceadh Blaithín: Tugann Tempest léargas ar shaibhreas ceoil an taobh seo tíre.
