Stars & Stones Explored

About

The Paschal Moon changes every year and has been used as a calendar for thousands of years. As we start to see Spring constellations, our astronomers will help explain how our ancestors followed the changing seasons in the night sky and created the lunar calendar which we still follow today.

You will be met with a delicious picnic and refreshments on arrival before setting off on our Solar Walk to the Neolithic stone site – Beaghmore Stone Circles. If the sky is clear, we will observe the final appearance of Orion and the naked eye planets using our range of telescopes and binoculars on our last (partially) dark walk before Summer's arrival, here within Northern Ireland's only internationally accredited Dark Sky Park. We will then follow the rising Moon back across the bog to OM for the end of your night walk.

The walk will be 7km and fully dark. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing. Dress warm as this event is outdoors and please bring a torch (red light is best).
